Please try to remember our fallen servicemen and women today as we celebrate Memorial Day.
We are very fortunate that they gave their lives so that we could enjoy what is great about this country.
When you lift a beer today, honor them.

$$$ in Beer
I'm not endorsing you go out and put all your $$$ into Boston Beer, unless it's in a tap room.
And don't just piss it into Boston Harbor either.
Here's one fellows take on the company as an investment prospect.
Now, if they just gave an option for a half-off six pack with every share...

Hey Tazio, what's in the Beer Meister?
The intent was to mow the lawn.
But that was predicated on having a beer to drink after said mowing.
Nothing in the Beer Meister, so a trip to my friendly neighborhood distributor brought the bounty:
1) Victory HopDevil Ale (of course)
2) Son of Summer Sam
The lawn is still looking mighty shaggy.

Tactical Nuclear Penguin -- The Deep Dive
Dog! This is one fine Beer--and that's spelled B-e-e-r with a capital Brew Dog and don't let the 32% bite fool you.
And it really is a stout--just not the weenie-dog 3% kind you're used to. (Not mentioning any names. You know who you are.)
But it's a sipp'n beer--enjoy it by the thimble.
Opened this bottle on Mother's Day with J, J-prime, UJ, D and myself. It was served at about 58 degrees.
Batch 002 -- Best before December 25, 2019. You like that? I do.
Pours an amber color--a bit like Glenmorangie. And with a head so thin you could, well, almost, think it's Glenmorangie.
A profligate aroma of alcohol on the nose--not a Rauch Bock blast across the bow mind you, but a sniff nonetheless to let you know there's serious business at hand.
All hop aroma has been banished to Siberia.
A wee-bit less alcohol lapping on the tongue--but not much. Tastes of tobacco, oak, caramel, molasses, roasted grain. A bit strong in the finish--not for the faint of heart.
S tried a sip and made a face--everyone else enjoyed the hell out of it--I enjoyed three shots, easily putting me over the limit to take to the streets.

Amphibians and Bivalves: In the Drink Together
Hot Damn!
Been yearning to try this recipe of my own concoction and finally had the chance as part of Mother's Day dinner we hosted for our Mothers, Grandmothers and other important Mothers on Sunday.
two medium onions
50 littleneck clams
2 tablespoons diced garlic
1/4 cup butter
1 1/2 teaspoon basil
1 cup Glen Summit Springs water (or tap)
2# 31-40 count shrimp
1 Bomber Hoppin' Frog Hop Dam American Triple I.P.A.
3 dashes Tabasco® Chipotle Hot Sauce (or your preference)
Rinse clams and discard any that are expired. (If you can't tell, just ask them or me.)
Dice onions. Combine butter, garlic, onion, basil, water, and clams in pot. Cover and let steam until clams open. Discard any that don't open.
Meanwhile, peel and devein shrimp and place in shallow pan with 1 cup water. Apply heat and poach--poach a few for immediate ingestion. Add 1/2 bottle of Hoppin' Frog I.P.A. to the pan but don't drink the remainder yet. Add the hot sauce. Bring to a boil and remove from fire.
Combine poached shrimp and liquid from pan into the pot with the clams and toss. What? You've never tossed clams before?
Place in large bowl for serving. Mother's first.
Divvy up the remainder of the Hoppin' Frog and offer a toast to all Mother's.
We wouldn't be here without them.
Tactical Nuclear Penguin
Cracked a bottle on Mother's Day.
Let's just say, I'm coming up for air now.
Coming soon: The Deep Dive.

RUSH: Beyond the Lighted Stage Wins Heineken Audience Award
Congratulations to Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn for their documentary on Rush, RUSH: Beyond the Lighted Stage which won the Heineken Audience Award at the just-concluded Tribeca Film Festival.
No, the prize wasn't a truckload of Heineken, it was $25K.
Enough for two truckloads.
